Community Business Partners
Sam and
Nancy Marouf’s priorities include a significant volunteer contribution of
time and talent to the community. Here are some of Shear Scapes’
current projects:

Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops — Since 2006
Families
of the military spouses that are stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan need help with
lawn maintenance tasks. GreenCare for Troops is a volunteer program for the green
industry. Shear Scapes takes care of at least two local families
each year with no cost lawn and/or landscape services. We are happy to assist these
families during this time of separation. We have helped seven families since our
participation began.
Annual Maintenance of Grounds at Mary G. Porter Traditional School
As parents
of a school-aged child, we have initiated formal and informal business partnerships
with our county schools. Mary G. Porter Traditional School concentrates on discipline
and high academic standards. We chose this school because of its focus on high expectations,
mandatory uniforms and volunteer requirements for students and parents. We provide
the school with annual maintenance of their grounds on Forest Grove Drive in Woodbridge.

Design of Memorial Gardens
Shear Scapes
takes great pride in creating memorial gardens for loved ones. The process is very
personal and private. We have created memorial gardens, at no charge, at Old Bridge
Elementary School. We also volunteered on the committee for the 9/11 Liberty Memorial
through the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Assistance to Senior Clients
Shear Scapes looks out for our senior clients who may require extra care
in situations that go beyond contracted work. We don’t mind going that extra
step to reassure them of their safety by removing a tree limb that has come down
in a storm, or filling in a lawn depression to prevent a fall.
Newspapers in Education — Honor Sponsor
NIE is an
international program begun in 1955 to advance the use of newspapers in schools.
The main purpose is to improve reading, spelling and writing abilities. At the beginning
of each school year, Shear Scapes makes a donation to help ensure
that newspapers are delivered to students in classrooms throughout the Prince William
area.
